Pottery course for beginners
In this course, you will receive a brief introduction to wheel throwing techniques: kneading the air out of the clay, centering on the wheel, pulling up, shaping, as well as various grips and hand positions. The teaching takes place on your own electric pottery wheel with group demonstrations and individual guidance.
The course also serves as an introduction to the Ceramic Workshop at Godsbanen, where you can later book time and continue working on your newly acquired skills at the pottery wheel.
This course is taught in english.

IMPORTANT TO READ IF YOUR SIGN UP LESS THAN A WEEK BEFORE THE COURSE:
Please bring: Clothes and footwear that can get dirty… (aprons are available in the workshop, but they don't cover everything), and preferably short nails!
Note:
This is a beginner's course, and the aim of the course is to teach you how to throw, practice, and center clay. The course focuses more on the learning process than on creating finished products.
However, if you produce items that you are particularly happy with and wish to "invest" more in, you can book time directly at the Ceramic Workshop and have your pieces fired afterwards. In that case, please budget for costs related to bisque firing and, if applicable, any glazing of the clay. You can read more about this on Godsbanen's website, including prices, access, etc.
Please note: You should expect material costs of around 50 DKK in addition to the course fee (covering the clay). Payment can be made via MobilePay, and you will settle directly with the instructor.
Getting There It can be a bit tricky to find the entrance. The easiest way into the ceramic studio is via the metal stairs on Kjeld Tolstrups Gade. From there, you can enter directly from the outside—no need to go through the main building. Just follow the red text on the attached map for guidance.

- You should expect an additional cost for materials of approximately 40-50 DKK for clay. If you later wish to have your items bisque-fired and glazed, you will need to book time at the workshop yourself and calculate the associated costs.
- You will receive an e-mail with practical information approximately 8 days before the course starts.
